About Us
Two people, one office, and more than thirty years of tax work
The people behind the firm
Roy T. Smith
Founder
Roy Smith is the founder of RT Smith & Company, which provides full service tax preparation, accounting, QuickBooks setup and consulting, and IRS debt resolution. He holds a graduate degree, a Master of Science in Accountancy, and has spent more than 30 years working with individuals, families and business owners on their returns, books and payroll.
His approach is year round rather than seasonal. Instead of meeting clients once in April, Roy looks at entity structure, timing, estimated payments and deductions while there is still time to act on them. He also takes on the work other preparers hand off, including back returns, IRS notices and balances owed, and he keeps the explanation in plain language so clients understand what is being filed on their behalf and why.
